April 5-8, 2017: SFB Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, MN
The Schmidt Lab was represented by Nik Agrawal, Michaela Mertz, and Ben Spearman at the Society for Biomaterials (SFB) Annual Meeting. Nik and Ben presented talks on their work, and Michaela a poster:
Agrawal, N. [speaker], Y. Du, P. Allen, A. Ellington, S. Khaing, C. Schmidt. “Oligonucleotide Hybridized Hydrogels for Sustained Release of Small Molecular (Aptamer) Therapeutics”
Spearman, B.S. [speaker], R.A. Wachs, V.H. Desai, C.S. Shafor, J.B. Graham, E.W. Atkinson, E.A. Nunamkaer, K.J. Otto, J.W. Judy, C. Schmidt. “Mechanically-tunable Extracellular Matrix Hydrogel Scaffold for Use in a Tissue-Engineered Electronic Nerve Interface (TEENI)”
Mertz, M.W. [presenter], N.E. Vaughn, R.A. Wachs, C.E. Schmidt. “Balancing Cell Removal and Preservation of Intricate ECM Microstructures during Chemical Decellularization of Peripheral Nerve” (poster)
The lab met some key neural engineering faculty (Drs. Molly Shoichet and Shelly Sakiyama-Elbert) and also had a great time with other UF BME students and faculty. We also had fun seeing our lab alum, Dr. Rebecca Wachs, who is now at the University of Nebraska. Dr. Art Coury, a former UF BME Leadership Speaker and a key figure in the biomaterials community, is also pictured below.
