Congratulations to Matthew Rexroad, who successfully defended his Master’s thesis on Friday, October 20th, 2023! The title of his defense was “Adapting a Non-Invasive Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury Model for ACL Mid-Substance Tears in Rats” and reflected his work conducted as a researcher in the Sharma Lab.
Matthew has been a member of the Sharma Lab since Summer of 2021. As an undergraduate student, Matthew dove head first into research and helped design, develop, and engineer parts for a non-invasive injury model, ultimately constructing a custom ACL rupture device (CARD).
After receiving his Bachelor’s of Science degree through the UF department of Biomedical Engineering, Matthew elected to stay in the Sharma Lab to further his research and pursue his Master’s degree. His research focuses on constructing and optimizing the CARD to study osteoarthritis progression in rats.
Congratulations, Matthew!
