Jillian Jacek Named University Scholar

Undergraduate researcher, Jillian Jacek, was selected as a part of the 2023 University Scholars Program. This prestigious award is given to 200 undergraduate students across all disciplines at UF. Those selected are paired with faculty mentors to complete a research project throughout the year. Students who receive the award are expected to present their research at the University of Florida Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium and contribute to an academic research paper.

Jillian is a junior studying Biomedical Engineering and has been a member of the Sharma Lab since Fall 2022. Jillian will be working on advancing our understanding of the enzymatic properties of the manganese dioxide particles .

“Jillian has become an asset on our team, always able to jump in and support any of the projects that we have going on in the lab. I’m really excited for her to dive into her own independent project because I know without a doubt that she will excel at creating and developing her project over the next year,” said Jessica Aldrich, Jillian’s graduate student mentor since joining the Sharma Lab.

Congratulations Jillian!
