Congratulations to Dr. Ruogu Fang on her distinguished appointment as the President of the Women in MICCAI (WiM) Committee for the 2023-2025 term within the Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI) Society.
The core mission of the Women in MICCAI (WiM) Committee is to fortify and amplify the presence of female scientists within the MICCAI community. This mission is carried out through strategic endeavors aimed at fostering increased female engagement in the field and ensuring equitable career progression for female faculty and students. These endeavors play a pivotal role in mitigating the undercurrents of gender bias that may exist within the community. WiM’s proactive initiatives encompass various facets: close collaboration with the organizers of the annual MICCAI conferences, orchestration of networking occasions within the community, notably during the annual MICCAI conference, establishment and curation of online discourse and advocacy platforms, as well as active liaison and counsel to the MICCAI board on pertinent matters.
WIM also organizes events such as WiM Inspirational Leadership Legacy (WILL) Competition and WIM Best Oral Presentation Award in conjunction with MICCAI.
The MICCAI Society aspires to stand as a premier global platform dedicated to the realms of medical image computing, computer-assisted intervention, and medical robotics. This convergence of multidisciplinary research fields unites clinicians, bioscientists, computer scientists, engineers, physicists, and assorted researchers, all collectively contributing to, and necessitating adeptness with, advancements in both methodology and applications within these domains.
