Congratulations to BME Ph.D. student, Angelie Rivera-Rodríguez, who was selected to participate in the 2020 St. Jude National Graduate Student Symposium (NGSS). Rivera-Rodríguez is one of 38 students selected from over 1,500 by a faculty review committee for the 2020 symposium.

Angelie Rivera-Rodríguez will present her research titled, Tracking Adoptive T Cell Cancer Immunotherapy Using Magnetic Particle Imaging. Her research consists of tracking cell therapies on animal models using nanotechnology and a novel imaging modality. She uses magnetic nanoparticle tracers to label immune cells that are specific against glioblastoma brain tumors and tracks their biodistribution using the Magnetic Particle Imaging system. Her project has the potential to accelerate the development of cell therapies for brain tumors and other cancers.

Application to NGSS by invitation only to a select group of Ph.D. students who have either met a St. Jude recruiter or have been nominated by a faculty member from their university.
