The Biomedical Engineering (BME) undergraduate major at UF is a limited-enrollment program. Freshman admission decisions are handled entirely by the UF Office of Admissions. The BME department does not review or influence freshman applications. Students interested in BME should apply to UF as pre-BME majors. As pre-BME students, you’ll begin by completing the required critical-tracking courses to prepare for upper-division study.

During the fall semester of sophomore year, pre-BME students apply for admission to the upper-division BME program, which begins the following spring semester. The department also admits a select number of transfer students in the fall, spring, and summer terms. Thanks to the program’s growth, up to 120 students per cohort are accepted.
