UF BME student recognized as 2025 Hall of Fame recipient

Ashni Zaverchand, a senior in the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering, has been named a 2025 inductee into the University of Florida Hall of Fame, the highest honor awarded to student leaders at UF.

The UF Hall of Fame recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, scholarship, and service during their time at the university. Induction is limited to no more than 25 students each year, with honorees selected by a committee appointed by the vice president for student life.

Zaverchand has been actively involved in Dream Team Engineering (DTE), biomedical research, and Patent-It AI, contributing to healthcare innovation, entrepreneurship, and machine learning applications in medical technology. Her work with DTE as President, where she leads 140+ students in developing medical devices for UF Health Shands Hospital; the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Lab, where she created a machine learning tool to automate hand landmark detection; and Patent-It AI, where she drives business development for an AI-powered patent analysis platform has exemplified the qualities of innovation, dedication, and leadership that define UF Hall of Fame inductees.

Her recognition highlights her commitment to advancing biomedical engineering, leaving a lasting impact on both the UF community and the field.
