Thank you to everyone who participated in our 6th Annual Pruitt Research Day! This year, we celebrated our 15th anniversary as a department! We had a successful event which included a full day of student talks, keynote speakers and poster presentations in celebration of the wonderful research being conducted in the department and the BME community.
We hold our celebration near the birth date of Dr. J. Crayton Pruitt Sr. whose vision and generosity helped found the department. Dr. Pruitt was always most excited to hear about and discuss the achievements and research being conducted by our students. You can read more about Dr. Pruitt here.
The Keynote speakers was Dr. Christopher Batich, professor of Materials Science & Engineering and Dr. Anthony Brennan, Margaret A. Ross Professor of Materials Science & Engineering, who spoke on their history here at BME pre-department. Drs. Batich and Brennan were instrumental in getting a formal UF BME biomedical engineering program off the ground. They also gave key advice to the students on how to develop and create the future needs of medicine today.
We had 6 student talks and 42 poster presentations this year. Faculty members judged the posters and selected finalists. Thank you to all the students who worked hard preparing for your presentations.
