This course will focus on the structure and function of musculoskeletal tissues in the homeostatic, diseased/injured, and healing states. We will explore current biomedical engineering approaches that restore, maintain, diagnostic, or improve musculoskeletal tissues. Through gaining knowledge of the clinical needs in the field and knowledge gaps in literature, we will use engineering principles to develop novel interventions. This course will be a combination of lectures, discussions, journal club, and a cumulative final project. (3 credits)
