Congratulations to Ph.D. student, Jackson Cagle, who was named the 2017 Outstanding Gator Engineer M.S. Scholar by the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.

Jackson Cagle conducts research in Dr. Aysegul Gunduz’ lab. His primary research focus is on the development of responsive Deep brain stimulation for Tourette’s syndrome. Tourette’s syndrome is a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and vocalizations called tics. It is also a continuous lifelong condition that is highly prevalent and socially embarrassing. Deep brain stimulation has emerged as a promising treatment option for addressing tics in appropriately screened cases.

Jackson’s application and record at the University of Florida truly impressed the awards selection committee. He will receive the award during the College’s Award Ceremony on April 20, 2017.
