Dr. Lin Yang of the University of Kentucky will be joining the J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida starting in August.

 

Dr. Yang’s research is in the area of Imaging Informatics; he was hired as part of the Big Data area for the UF Rising to National Preeminence initiative at UF. Dr. Yang received his Bachelor and Master degrees from Xian Jiaotong University in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1999 and 2002. He received his Ph. D degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2009 from Rutgers University with a focus on biomedical image analysis, imaging informatics, and robust computer vision. From 2009 – 2011, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology and a graduate faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University. Starting from 2011, he is currently an Assistant Professor in the division of biomedical informatics, department of biostatistics and department of computer science at the University of Kentucky. He conducted part of his research at Siemens Corporate Research in 2007 and 2008, and IBM T. J. Watson Research Lab in 2008, respectively. He has over 15 years of research experience in biomedical image analysis, imaging informatics, computer vision, and machine learning. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed journal and conference articles. His recent research interests focus on biomedical image analysis and imaging informatics, especially using high performance computing platforms. He is the founder of the Biomedical Image Computing and Imaging Informatics Lab (BICI2). His BICI2 lab is sponsored by active extramural grants, including multiple NIH R01s.
