Professor Jack W. Judy has been named the next Director of the Nanoscience Institute for Medical and Engineering Technology (NIMET).  BME will have critical interactions with NIMET, particularly in the area of nanomedicine, including nanoparticle development for disease diagnostics and therapeutics. Dr. Judy is a world renowned leader in MEMS/NEMS technology and is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at UCLA, where he led the creation of the multidiscliplinary NeuroEngineering training program.  He is also serving as a Program Manager in the Microsystems Technology Office at DARPA, where he founded Re-NET: Reliable Neural Engineering Technologies, a $66 million funding program that supports the study of high-performance neural interfaces between amputees and their prosthetic limbs.  Dr. Judy will join UF in Summer 2013. The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering welcomes Dr. Judy to UF, and looks forward to extensive interactions with NIMET!
