Dr. Brewer’s research is focused on studying the cellular and molecular aspects of neuroscience, especially relating to the development and diseases of neurons in the hippocampus of the mammalian brain. They use hippocampal nerve cells because they are a fairly uniform type of brain cell involved in learning, memory and diseases such as stroke, epilepsy and Alzheimer. Their approaches are aimed at discovering the basis for the age dependence of AD.
