Eugene Goldberg, PhD, Professor in Materials Science & Engineering, UF

Presented here is an overview of biomedical polymer research in Dr. Goldberg’s group in MSE. This research encompasses the fields of Polymer Nanosurfaces, Tissue  Engineering, Ocular Implants, and Localized Cancer Chemotherapy. More specifically, studies will be discussed concerning such diverse biomedical engineering subjects as (1) Nanosurface Properties of Low Tg Acrylic Intraocular Lens Implants, (2) Microporous Biopolymer-Nerve Cell Implants for Spinal Cord Repair, and (3) A New Paradigm for Improved Treatment of Lung Cancer by Endobronchial Intratumoral Chemotherapy (EITC); a treatment that is now in collaborative clinical studies in Turkey, Germany, China, and Switzerland with promising results for more than 500 patients to date.
