Biomedical engineering at UF integrates engineering, biology, and medicine to prepare students for impactful careers in healthcare innovation. The Biomedical Engineering (B.S.) degree program is a limited-enrollment major designed for highly motivated students interested in applying engineering principles to solve medical and biological challenges.
Incoming freshmen declare the pre-BME major and complete foundational engineering coursework. During the fall semester of sophomore year, pre-BME students apply for admission to the upper-division BME major, which begins the following spring. The pre-BME curriculum parallels other UF engineering majors, allowing flexibility to switch paths if interests evolve. The program also welcomes qualified transfer students.
